Sep. 9--A proposed State Route 30 economic development corridor could benefit from a study being conducted on Interstate 40, a Tennessee Department of Transportation official said.
"It could be viewed that the State Route 30 corridor would actually fall in line with what the study is looking at, which is how to deal with increasing demands on the I-81/40 corridor," TDOT spokeswoman Julie Oaks said.
The state transportation department began a study two months ago on interstates 40 and 81 between Memphis and Bristol, Tenn., officials said. TDOT said it is looking at ways to ease traffic congestion.
