Sep. 10--The traditional gift for a couple fortunate enough to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary is the diamond, the romantic symbol of love's eternal flame.
But for Bucks County Republican Party Chairman Harry Fawkes and his wife, Mary, the GOP is suggesting the perfect gift this year might be a $1,000 check made out to the party's campaign committee.
Party leaders are hosting a $1,000-a-plate 60th anniversary party/political fundraiser in the couple's honor tonight in New Hope, slice of anniversary cake included.
