BRIEF: Majority above poverty level.

Sep. 12--The new 2006 census data for Yuma County cites 14.1 percent of its population at 100 to 149 percent above the poverty level and 67.4 percent at 150 percent above the poverty level. The census sets poverty levels based on family size and composition. Families or individuals that are at "100 percent of the poverty level" are at the poverty line. Only 18.5 percent were below the poverty line. The median income for all workers (full-time, part-time and seasonal) was nearly $20,000 and 12 percent of the population earned more than $50,000 annually.
