Sep. 12--Nicki Phillips earned her haggis bragging rights at a young age.
She grew up in Burns country -- as in the Scottish poet Robert Burns -- where Burns' Jan. 25 birthday is celebrated with a Burns dinner (with haggis as the main course).
Phillips came to the U.S. from Scotland in 2003, and she hasn't had a proper haggis since.
Since it's illegal to buy or sell sheep's lungs in America, Phillips has settled on canned haggis, which she buys at the British imports store Things U.K. in Broken Arrow.
But giving up true Scottish haggis was worth it for Phillips.
