Sep. 12--First, the good news: Employer-sponsored health insurance premiums nationwide climbed 6.1 percent this year, the slowest growth rate since 1999.
The bad news: That acceleration was nearly twice the increase in workers' take-home pay, and more than twice general inflation.
Annual premiums rose less than the 7.7 percent increase reported last year, with the average premium for family coverage this year topping $12,000, according to the 2007 Employer Health Benefits Survey released Tuesday by the Kaiser Family Foundation and Health Research and Educational Trust.
