Sep. 13--The 51st annual Lenoir County Fair begins Monday featuring amusement rides, exhibits and entertainment for people of all ages.
This year's county fair theme is "Promoting Progress for Lenoir County." Event organizers began setting up rides at the Lenoir County Fairgrounds just off N.C. 11 south on Saturday.
The fair will feature several new attractions this year including a 80's and above demolition derby on Monday night. Vehicles entered into the derby must be at least 27-years-old to qualify.
Also new to the fair this year is a chili cook-off contest scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
