The Baldwinsville village board has agreed to create a new village engineer position that will oversee both the department of public works and the village codes office.
Department of public works Supervisor Claude Sykes is retiring at the end of this year. Sykes also is running unopposed for town supervisor in Van Buren.
A committee that included Sykes, Mayor Joe Saraceni and trustees Rick Presley and Bruce Stebbins , among others, unanimously agreed the village needed an in-house engineer.
The village soon will begin recruiting an engineer at a salary of $75,000 to $95,000 a year, Sykes said. Salary ...
