SYRACUSE IRISH FESTIVAL
Around here, the weekend after Labor Day can mean only one thing: time for the Syracuse Irish Festival.
The annual cultural celebration, now in its eighth year, was held Sept. 7 and 8 in Clinton Square, Syracuse. About 20,000 to 25,000 people packed the square over two days to watch step dancers, shop for crafts, attend lectures, listen to music and chow down on bangers and beans.
But along with the usual fare of activities, festival-goers also had their choice of new events aimed at giving the event a family feel. From a Saturday morning Gaelic Mass to storytime sessions for kids, this year's festival truly provided ...
