Sep. 14--A twice-convicted murderer was spared lethal injection Thursday after the Dallas County district attorney's office asked that the execution be halted because evidence was not turned over to Joseph Roland Lave Jr.'s attorneys.
The request by District Attorney Craig Watkins came after his office discovered that long-requested information about a second polygraph test by a co-defendant existed despite the previous district attorney's administration saying it did not.
Court records show that in 2004, prosecutors told Mr. Lave's appellate attorneys and a federal court that a second polygraph was never taken.
