Few would quarrel with this author's contention that "the Ferris wheel, perhaps more than any other amusement ride, symbolizes all that is magic about amusement parks and country fairs" (3). And certainly no one can doubt his expertise on that subject. In 1992, Norman Anderson published this prodigiously researched and extremely informative book that is clearly a work of great affection.
