Sep. 13--Children's Orchard, a second-hand clothing store, first arrived in Orange County in 1987 with a store in Lake Forest.
Today, it has nine local stores, with plans to open more.
Children's Orchard caters to moms with newborns to eight-year-olds with brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Gap and Gymboree. There are currently 25,000 resale, consignment and thrift stores in the U.S. and that count is growing by about 5 percent a year, according to the National Association of Resale & Thrift Shops
