In the world of recording, massive leaps in the availability of top-level recording equipment have democratized the record-making process. This is a good thing: Now, anyone with a computer and at least a small amount of disposable income can make a record in their house that sounds, theoretically at least, as good as the stuff they're hearing on the radio, or wherever it is they're hearing commercial music.
