To the Editor:
Prior to 9/11, I know of no American forces, anywhere, engaging in armed conflict with al-Qaida or any sympathizing Muslim terrorist groups. Since 9/11, we have engaged al-Qaida and other sympathizing terrorist groups in armed conflict in Afghanistan and Iraq. We have not experienced a repeat of any incident resembling the magnitude of the 9/11 attack. What are we doing wrong?
Perhaps the following questions will help us understand the dilemma. Should we return to the pre-9/11 posture? Will that protect us from those who believe their religion mandates the chaos ...
