WHEN Kate Moss spotted the [pounds sterling]6million villa with garden studio and agaggle of celebrity neighbours, she was quick to reach for her chequebook.

Unfortunately for her, however, another famous face was even more taken withthe seven-bedroom property.

Adam Clayton, bass player with the rock band U2, decided to rule out any chanceof a bidding war by putting in an astonishing offer of [pounds sterling]12.5million - more thantwice the asking price.

Not surprisingly Miss Moss declined to match it and the 47- year-old musicianis said to be 'delighted' with his purchase.
