Good actors can make a bad film interesting, but they can't redeem a bad script. Jodie Foster seems to have focused on commercial projects in recent years, taking occasional cameos in independent and foreign films, but then starring in disposable movies like "Panic Room," "Flight Plan" and now "The Brave One." (Her work in the ensemble cast of last year's "Inside Man" is a very notable exception.)
"The Brave One" is essentially a revenge thriller on the order of "Death Wish," although given a twist by making the victim-turned-avenger a woman, and with a bit more agonizing about the appropriateness ...
