Sep. 16--State Rep. Stephen Dyer, D-Green, has seen his life change dramatically in the past two years from being a reporter for the Akron Beacon Journal to hiring on as an attorney for the Summit County government to winning an Ohio House seat held by Republicans for more than a decade.
Dyer was elected in the year when Democrats took control of four statewide offices, including governor, and picked up seven seats in the Ohio House to narrow the Republican majority to 53-46.
And with Gov. Ted Strickland running the administration, the minority party in the legislature has leverage it has not had in 12 years.
