Sep. 16--BLACKSBURG -- Myron King came almost 3,500 miles from his native Northern Ireland to pursue his passion for soccer in the United States. As the new director of soccer operations for the New River United Soccer Association, he feels right at home.
Called "football" in his native country, soccer has been a staple of King's life since he first helped organize neighborhood recreation teams in Northern Ireland at age 17. The sport was also his main motivation for moving to the United States in 2000. A three-week vacation in Florida further convinced him.
