Sep. 17--DURHAM -- Thelonious Monk, legendary jazz musician and composer, is the stuff big performance series are made of. That's what Duke Performing Arts interim director Aaron Greenwald thought as he began working on the series "Following Monk," more than a year ago.
The six-week series, featuring 18 events, from music to dance to theater, kicks off a new performing arts season and heralds a different way of organizing a performance lineup at Duke.
"It's a working alternative model of how you can present at a university," Greenwald said in a recent interview.
