INTRODUCTION
Recent proposals to improve the efficiency of energy use in the residential sector have called for changes in electricity rate structures. Knowledge of the factors affecting electricity demand is, of course, very important for appraising any such proposals. The estimation of econometric models of electricity demand offers an interesting approach for studying the potential impacts of alternative pricing policies.
