General purpose rubbers, and some speciality types, cannot fulfil the overall criteria of many specifications or practical applications as individually they have some deficiency in important physical properties such as damping, inherent strength and inbuilt tack etc. Barun Dutt of BD Technical Polymer discusses the options for rubber blending.
