Airport board skips search, hires executive director from within.

Sep. 15--FINDLAY TWP. -- Brad Penrod has moved up in the aviation industry without moving out of his native western Pennsylvania.

On Friday, the Allegheny County Airport Authority decided against conducting a national search to replace outgoing Executive Director Kent George and hired Penrod, 47, to replace him. Penrod has worked for the authority and, prior to its creation, the Allegheny County Aviation Department, in various roles over the last 24 years, his entire career. He has been the authority's chief operating officer since 1999, and served as interim director for a year prior to George's hiring in 1998.
