Sep. 18--An accordion player set on a career as a musician, Kenneth A. Skopec decided to apply for a job at Mid-City National Bank at the urging of a family friend, who was working in the filing department there.

She figured it was a good way for her friend to make a few bucks, and it would pay off for her too. In 1952, Mr. Skopec was hired as a full-time teller, and she made $12.50 for the referral. Three years later, they were married, and 20 years later, he became bank president.

"I got more than my money's worth," said Rosemarie "Cookie" Skopec.
