Sep. 18--DALTON, Ga. -- After years of trying to revive historic districts, many business owners say they're not giving up on breathing life back into the downtown areas that only a couple decades ago bustled with commerce.
Business owner Sally Halker said empty storefronts lined the main drag of Dalton when she moved here in 1999. But she loves historic buildings, so she decided to open a downtown gardening shop, The Yellow Bird.
Now downtown is starting to pick up. "It's a case of you just have to hang in there," Ms. Halker said.
