Sep. 18--The Cambria County 4-H Livestock program wrapped up its project year at the annual livestock auction Sept. 6 at the Cambria County Fair, and included a remembrance of a young accident victim.
A special award was presented to Emily Daughenbaugh of Johnstown in memory of Zachary Alvarez, 9, a 4-H member who died this month.
Thomas Evans of Ebensburg and Zach's uncle, Pat Mock, of the All Crane company in the Ebensburg area, each purchased a hog. The animals were donated back for resale -- one to establish a memorial fund for Zach and one as a donation to the 4-H Clover Club, of which Zach was a member.
The memorial sale raised $2,600.
