"We Are Marshall," coming to DVD this week, has a powerful, real-life foundation that the movie never quite matches.
This, after all, is a tale that just in trailer form can make you cry. It follows West Virginia's Marshall University and its surrounding community after a 1970 airplane crash that killed 37 Marshall football players, along with coaches and supporters.
That story and a cast that includes Matthew McConaughey (as Jack Lengyel, who became the university's football coach after the crash), David Strathairn and Ian McShane make for some fine work. Still, some viewers will take issue with the use of composite ...
