Sep. 20--A spotted 7-foot-long snake slithered around Burr Ridge on Wednesday, eluding authorities, confounding experts and sending residents into a panic.
The Cook County Sheriff's Office and Cook County Animal Control were investigating a report of a boa constrictor on the loose after a resident Monday spotted a snake coiled in her driveway before it slithered away.
Authorities searched the 8900 block of Maple Avenue on Wednesday, hoping to find the cold-blooded reptile warming itself in the afternoon sun, said county spokeswoman Ibis Antongiorgi.
"But after a thorough search," she said, "no snake was found."
