Sep. 20--A man has been sentenced in Berks County Court to 25 to 50 years in state prison for raping a 62-year-old Laureldale woman who had allowed him to stay in her home as a guest.
Jeffrey M. Goggins, 42, whose last known address was in the 300 block of North Sixth Street, was convicted of rape and simple assault in the Aug. 8, 2006 attack.
Judge Linda K.M. Ludgate declared Goggins a sexually violent predator, requiring him to register his address with state police for the rest of his life.
The Reading Eagle is withholding the name and address of the victim, who died in January of causes unrelated to the rape.
