Sep. 20--When Blackwater pulled the trigger Sunday in Baghdad, it gave its enemies ammunition.
Newspapers around the world carried reports of the shooting, making the Moyock, N.C.-based company a household name from Sydney to Taipei. Most stories stuck to the facts: Iraq is trying to boot Blackwater out of the country after a clash that left at least 11 Iraqis dead, and ignited a social and political crisis. An investigation is under way.
But Blackwater's critics aren't waiting for the outcome. In the court of public opinion, the company has been largely convicted -- guilty by association with an unpopular war.
