Sep. 19--Senators heard mixed opinions Tuesday about how the state should regulate raw milk -- milk that is not pasteurized -- which is growing in popularity despite longstanding health concerns.
The Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee heard nearly three hours of testimony about raw milk at a morning hearing. Afterward, about 60 raw-milk proponents rallied on the state Capitol steps, and some hoisted glasses of raw milk to help make their point that it has nutritional value that's lost in the pasteurization process.
