Sep. 21--Tulsa Public Schools administrators said they have new reason to be "cautiously optimistic" about a $12 million federal magnet-schools grant they have applied for through the U.S. Department of Education.
The grant request is the largest of three requests for federal funds totalling $15 million that TPS hired the lobbyist firm of Heartland Consulting Inc. to assist it in landing. Roberta Ellis, executive director of state and federal programs, said the district recently received requests for additional documentation through the U.S. Department of Education's Magnet Schools Assistance program.
