Sep. 21--Tulsa Public Schools administrators said they have new reason to be "cautiously optimistic" about a $12 million federal magnet-schools grant they have applied for through the U.S. Department of Education.

The grant request is the largest of three requests for federal funds totalling $15 million that TPS hired the lobbyist firm of Heartland Consulting Inc. to assist it in landing.
