Sep. 21--OKLAHOMA CITY -- The head of the state Republican Party confirmed Thursday that the State Ethics Commission is probing possible violations in GOP campaign financial dealings in 2004.

Gary Jones, state Republican chairman, said the party's attorney has been contacted by the Oklahoma Ethics Commission.

The attorney informed the state Republican Party that "some people have received letters to appear" before the Ethics Commission, said Jones, although he did not know who has been asked to appear.
