BALANCING an often tenuous line between the varied interests of livestock producers, wildlife advocates and public lands users, brucellosis control in the Greater Yellowstone Area (GYA) once again came to the forefront with Montana's current investigation into infected cattle.

Brucellosis is an infectious disease of cattle, elk and bison caused by the bacteria Brucella abortos. It causes abortion and reduced fertility.
