T'S not only children who have problems with childhood eczema, their parents suffer too. The itchy skin disease affects one in five kids, and figures show that 52% of their carers feel they have no control over their child's condition, 23% never get a good night's sleep, and 15% feel the whole household is disrupted.

"When one person in a family has eczema, everyone can be affected," says National Eczema Society chief executive Margaret Cox. "A child with eczema may wake several times a night because they've scratched so much they need bathing, or because they need more cream putting on. This can really take its toll on parents."
