Sep. 22--The Center for Contemporary Arts is working to overcome financial problems that led a builder to halt work on an expansion project until the company gets paid.

Sarcon Construction suspended work several weeks ago at the arts complex off Old Pecos Trail because CCA was in arrears for about $169,000. And the second phase of the project, a two-story lobby entrance on the north side, has been put on hold, according to the Sarcon president Peter Brill.

CCA needs to come up with another $250,000 to complete the construction.
