TAMPA, Fla. _ Having completed their day's work with stunning ease, a couple of dozen South Florida Bulls gathered around a 60-inch television on their way back to the winning locker room.
Through the nearby tunnel at Raymond James Stadium, the frenzied cheers of 38,000 Bulls fans could still be heard after Saturday's 37-10 demolition of Butch Davis' first North Carolina club.
For the moment, however, the nation's 23rd-ranked college football team was more interested in the trouble one of its Big East brethren was having on the tube.
