Sep. 23--In Conor McPherson's plays, people tell long, spooky tales about ghosts and vampires. Shining City is remarkable in that the person onstage listening is as important as the one doing the talking.
Undermain Theatre opened its 24th season Saturday with a superb version of this otherworldly Irish saga. Director Katherine Owens, who has always specialized in the uncanny, knows where the bodies are buried in a story about a man who sees his late wife's ghost haunting their house.
