70 Are Now Set For October Start, 'Favorites' First
DirecTV last week told its subscribers they would have their 'favorite' networks in HD by the end of the month and that there would be more than 70 HD services launching in October.
That was part of a flurry of announcements about new high-definition services. In addition to DirecTV's update about the status of the long-promised expansion of its HD lineup, there were official announcements about the launches of two new HD-only networks, MGM HD and Smithsonian HD, as well as CNBC HD Plus, a simulcast of CNBC.
