Afghan and US-led coalition soldiers battled Taliban militants in Afghanistan and called in airstrikes, killing more than 20 insurgents. Elsewhere, two police officers died after a roadside bomb blast. The battles on Sept 4 & 5 comes after Afghan forces claimed to have killed a Taliban commander involved in the kidnapping of 23 South Korean church workers in central Afghanistan in July. Afghan and coalition soldiers in the Shah Wali Kot district, in southern Kandahar Province, came under attack while on patrol Tuesday.
