SAN JOSE, Calif. _ Master Chief may be ready to save the galaxy from the Covenant once again, but don't expect "Halo's" hero to help Microsoft win the console wars while he's at it.
When "Halo 3," the latest iteration of Microsoft's hit sci-fi first-person-shooter game, assaults store shelves Tuesday, it's almost guaranteed to be a blockbuster hit. Many analysts expect it to be the top-selling game this year, packing enough punch to not only boost flagging sales of Microsoft's Xbox 360 console, but also push its game division back into profitability for the first time since "Halo 2" hit store shelves.
