The hi-def battle is in full swing. In one corner we have Blu-ray. In the other, HD-DVD. The two contenders offer pristine high-definition video and the highest-fidelity surround sound. Unfortunately, they are incompatible with each other and locked in a struggle to rule the high definition content market.
Format wars are nothing new. The 8-track tape, Betamax video and Laserdisc all lost their battles while, more recently, Super Audio CDs and DVD Audio succeeded in killing each other off.
