Chinese survey shows safety of drug eluting stents in treating heart disease
Shanghai. September 25. INTERFAX-CHINA - A survey conducted by Chinese doctors released yesterday claims that the use of drug eluting stents, or supports that prop open blocked coronary arteries and slowly release a drug to reduce the rate of re-blockage, are safe and efficient in treating coronary heart disease patients.
The survey, conducted by doctors from Beijing's Fuwai Cardiovascular Disease Hospital, sampled 8,190 patients who had been fitted with drug eluting stents from 2001 to 2007, including 2,986 patients using stents that release imported rapamycin, 1,587 using ...
