CLICHY-SOUS-BOIS, France, Sep. 24, 2007 (IPS/GIN) -- The smoke has cleared from the riots that rocked the French suburbs two years ago, but in some of these "banlieues," unemployment still hovers at 20 percent -- double the national average.
Few steps have been taken to address these high levels of unemployment, even though the figure for adults between 21 and 29 in some suburbs stands closer to 30 percent.
Residents of the Parisian suburb of Clichy-sous-Bois are still awaiting the transformation promised by France's new government.
