KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Sep. 24, 2007 (IPS/GIN) -- An explosive, eight-minute video clip of a controversial lawyer and a top judge has shaken the Malaysian public and sparked widespread demands for an investigation and overhaul of the judiciary.

Opposition lawmakers allege that the video clip implicates the lawyer and judge by showing them conspiring to "fix" high-profile cases and the promotion of judges. The 2002 video conversation also implicates Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, a former prime minister; a business tycoon; a sitting minister; and at least four serving judges.
