MIKE Olley, Broad Street manager and spokesman for the Broad Street BID (Business Improvement District), today insisted the area was not facing a crisis.

He said some businesses were closing to make way for several regeneration projects, including a scheme dubbed Birmingham's "next Brindleyplace".

Due to start next year, the five-year pounds 500 million Arena Central scheme, which includes a 50-storey, 175-metre high tower, promises to transform the underdeveloped south side of Broad Street, breathing new life into the former Central television studios site.
