FAMILIES in Sutton Coldfield today vowed to hit for six any plans to build houses on a cricket club's picturesque ground.
Campaigners are holding their first meeting in Walmley on Friday to draw up battle plans in their fight against a new estate being built.
Controversy erupted when Walmley Cricket Club announced plans to sell its ground to developers Sports Partnership for millions of pounds and relocate to a purpose-built ground at Peddimore, near the A38 Sutton bypass.
Labour Party activist Dr Rob Pocock, who is leading the campaign against the club's plans, is determined to "man the barricades" before any deal is done.
