Milk substitute brands may have won over many allergy sufferers, but they're not resting on their laurels. Suppliers are adding functional or low-fat benefits and pushing the positive health associations of soya or lower carbs to attract a wider range of shoppers.

Soya brand Alpro has, for example, added probiotics to its yoghurts, repositioned its range on a health platform and the Belgian company has announced plans to go carbon neutral.
