Sep. 26--A Wendy's franchisee from Upper Arlington is making a play for Wendy's International with the backing of two private-equity firms.
J. David Karam, president of Cedar Enterprises Inc., said he and his partners have been invited by Wendy's to a second round of talks. He has joined up with Kelso & Co. and Oak Hill Capital Partners.
He has the blessing of the Thomas family, which would like to see the company turned over to a person who is involved in the system and understands its culture, said Pam Thomas Farber, daughter of founder Dave Thomas.
