HERSHEY, PA. -- Patch testing is almost always warranted in patients who present with unilateral dermatitis of the hand, according to dermatologist Dr. Bryan Anderson.
General hand dermatitis is more heterogenous and can be a manifestation of a number of conditions such as allergic contact dermatitis, irritant contact dermatitis, dyshidrotic dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, or other nonspecific dermatitis.
Unilateral dermatitis of the hand "is more likely to be allergic contact dermatitis or irritant contact dermatitis in nature," said Dr. Anderson at a meeting on contact dermatitis sponsored by Pennsylvania State University in Hershey. "Patch ...
