Learning from the Ibis.(A Short History of Enemas)

In Barcelona (Spain) an article appeared in a journal "The Medicine of the Month:" about enemas. It shows the delightful print of the amazing bird, the ibis, giving itself a water enema! The accompanying article is in Catalan, the unique language of Barcelona's region, Cataluna; but we have an item from the Internet showing a report published in Time magazine of July 1, 1946, titled "The Clyster Craze". The article quotes a report by Brooklyn specialist, Dr. William Lieberman, a foremost U.S. authority on the history of the enema. His report appeared in June 1946 in the Review of Gastroenterology.
