Over the past 10 years, there has been a change in the behavior and demeanor of many college students (Bru, Stephens, & Torsheim, 2002). This behavioral change includes a rise in poor social skills, such as inappropriate actions and comments in social situations. Various explanations have been offered for this change, including a shift in society, different norms of acceptability, evolving institutions, and the influence of mass media (Heinemann, 1996).
